LOOK is a national charity that supports VI young people and their families. Rachel was interviewed on 8/11/21 as part of the LOOK Into Q&A Series, which provides opportunities for young VI people to meet and learn from amazing VI role models. The interview was via Zoom and streamed live on Facebook and YouTube. See the interview here.

The Vibration Continues is an improvisation based collaboration between pianists Rachel Starritt and Cara Tivey, inspired by the surroundings, artefacts and spaces within Hereford Cathedral (18th August 2021).

Rachel was the pianist in the 'The Lost Thing' production at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, which ran for over a month including Xmas 2019 and New Year.

 

This was a co-production between the Royal Opera and the Candoco Dance Company with music by Jules Maxwell.

Rachel played at events in London's South Bank Centre and Manchester's Bridgewater Hall in Autumn 2019 as a member of The British Paraorchestra conduced by Charles Hazlewood.

As a member of the British Paraorchestra, Rachel played keyboard with the Love Unlimited Synth Orchestra at Glastonbury .

Rachel took part in the Haptic Baton project that redefines orchestra for Visually Impaired Musicians.

In June 2018 Rachel attended a jazz workshop at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London.

Conservatori Liceu Barcelona

Rachel was given the opportunity to study a six month placement in Conservatori Liceu Barcelona under the tutelage of Alba Ventura.

'As well as classical repertoire I also studied Jazz & Improvisation and Chambre Music. I am a fluent Spanish speaker and I loved the cultural experience in Barcelona.' - Rachel

CBeebies 'Melody'

In May 2016 Rachel featured in an episode of CBeebies 'Melody', which was filed at the RWCMD in Cardiff.

Palermo with UCAN

In March 2016 Rachel attended a music and drama workshops in Palermo, Italy with UCAN Productions, along with other Visually Impaired groups from Italy and Bulgaria.

RIO PARALYMPICS SUPERHUMAN CAMPAIGN

In April 2016 Rachel was the pianist in the Channel 4 Rio ‘Superhuman’ Campaign which involved recording at the Abbey Road Studios along with a number of exceptionally talented disabled musicians under the direction of Guy Farley.
